Prof. Dr. Tahir Irfan Khan has officially taken charge as the Vice Chancellor of Abbottabad University of Science and Technology (AUST) for the second time. Prior to this, he served at the University of Bradford, UK. Upon his return, Dr. Khan was welcomed with a grand and historic reception at AUST.
The event was attended by Registrar Mr. Iftikhar Hussain, Director of Administration Mr. Ajmal Khan, heads of departments, faculty members, Director of the Youth Development Centre Mr. Qazi Khurram Shehzad, Dr. Hasan Jahangiri, student society representatives, and a large number of students. Dr. Khan was presented with floral bouquets, and a ceremonial parade by the university’s security force and military band further marked the occasion.
During the event, the official handover of charge documents was signed between Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Tahir Irfan Khan and Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Malik Mujaddid-ur-Rehman. The Youth Development Centre also organized a cake-cutting ceremony in honor of Dr. Khan, attended by faculty, students, and administrative heads.
Registrar Iftikhar Hussain and Mr. Faheem Zaib Khan warmly welcomed Dr. Khan in their speeches, affirming their commitment to work collectively under his leadership for the development of the university and the bright future of its students.
In his address, Prof. Dr. Tahir Irfan Khan expressed deep gratitude for the heartfelt welcome and stated that his return from Bradford University to lead AUST again is driven by a passion to serve Pakistan and its youth. He emphasized the vital role of educational institutions in the nation’s progress and pledged to utilize all available resources to provide students with education aligned with modern demands.
The ceremony concluded with a special prayer led by Dr. Saad Jafar for the prosperity of Pakistan and continued success of the university. Registrar Iftikhar Hussain thanked all attendees for making the event a memorable one.
